...IT HAS THE LEGENDS, PASSION, JOY....

This is a sacred history.
It has the legends, the passion, the joy ...
yes, joy....

....that only wine can give. It has all the
flavour & gusto of wine...

“We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle.
But this conversion is, through the goodness of God,
made every day before our eyes.
Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards,
and which incorporates itself with the grapes,
to be changed into wine;
a constant proof that God loves us,
and loves to see us happy.”

                                                                                by Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Wine .....that tastes of sun .....

Tuscany, as regards wines, has no equal the world over,
thanks to a most felicitous nature...
and to a civilization of..

...the grapevine and of wine that has been
decanted and refined over
the centuries...!

Soft rolling hills with their haunting luminosity....

Here there is light ...... the sun....!
Radiant sunlight &  the right soil are the soul of wine....

...But the tradition of the countryside and
the memory of men are the...

...solide bases of this extraordinary Tuscan wine culture...!

Each grape variety has its own unique combination of
characteristics including color, size, skin thickness,
acidity, yield per vine and flavors..

Wine that tastes of the sea ......
It is an undeniably sacred history, that of wine on the hills
bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
It was British (and thus impartial)
 historians who wrote with
no uncertainty:

"Wine-growing, grape vines and wine have been an integral part
of Tuscan civilization for almost three millenniums,
since the Etruscan settled in
the territory".

In the Cantina ....
A cap of grape skins forms on the surface of fermenting red wine.

Details of my friends gorgeous Cantina, the Wine Cellar...

"Wine is the pleasantest subject in the world to discuss.
                                        All its associations are with occasions when people are at their best;
with relaxation, contentment, leisurely meals and the free flow of ideas."

by Hugh Johnson, wine book author

I hope very much you liked this little "escape" back in the
                                         warm & sunny september....
taking a deep breath of fresh,
pure september air & enjoying the
                                 warm late summer sun
                                 & sipping a glass of
                                 gentle Tuscan wine with me...!

Wine from Italy has always been our favourite! Really! 'Amarone' comes to mind which was our favourite. We are not connoisseurs by any means but appreciate a good glass of wine on occasion.
Lovely post Elvira. It really must be something to witness the harvest and making of wine.

Elvira- when I think of beautiful Tuscany- it is the vineyards that first come to my mind. Your photos have shown how beautiful and special this place is- how the sun turns the fruit of the grapes into magic.

I would love to share a glass of your amazing Tuscan wine with you---

A toast to you my friend and the beautiful place that you call home.

Merry Christmas Elvira--

When I drive by vineyards I see rows of grapes, not knowing the blood, sweat and tears that go into providing a beautiful bottle of wine. With your tender touch and lyrical voice, you have brightened my view of wine. Lovely post Elvira...thank you for sharing this world and "cin cin"!

Season's Best you and all your loved ones!

Elvira, your marvelous images are magical and the sunlit countryside of Tuscany, those luscious grapes, all delicately balanced with what nature provides, along with the touch of what mankind can do with the bounty of the harvest...wine.
I enjoy a glass of sweeter wines, while my husby enjoys Merlot. What are some of the sweeter wines from your region, that you might suggest? People here, do not always have any good thoughts when it comes to choosing a nice wine.
Your selections, the chosen words to use with your images.. it all makes my heart full of joy, just as the words speak.
Such sweet pleasures your surely have to enjoy.
Take care dear one~

Hello Elvira,
Very nice shots!!
Nice how you show the process of the grapes into the wine.
The grapes looks good already, but the tastes of a glass of wine of these are much better.

Greetings, Marco

Elvira...Did you make much wine from your grapes this year? The photos are stunning as usual. In what month are the grapes harvested?
